What is Naruto?

Naruto is a Shonen (teen male oriented) animated series and manga (Japanese comic) created by Masashi Kishimoto. Both the anime and the manga are ongoing in Japan at the moment. The series has been licensed abroad in various countries. You can find Naruto manga on American shelves and the animated series airing in the Philippines. The show takes place in a world populated by ninja villages. The ninja in the series serve as the armies for the countries that inhabit the world. Most of the countries have their own Hidden Village, which serves to train and manage the ninja of the country. Also the ninja in the series are able to utilize jutsu techniques, which are the secrecy, body and illusion arts of the ninja. These allow the ninja to perform many amazing skills such as the manipulation of the surrounding elements. The main character of the series is Uzumaki Naruto, a young boy who dreams of becoming the leader of his Hidden Village. It will be difficult though for Naruto, because when he was a baby an evil demon was placed inside him to stop its rampage. As Naruto grew the townspeople saw Naruto himself as the demon, even though he was merely its container. When the series begins the reader and viewer will begin their journey with Naruto on his path to become respected by the village.

Microsoft’s Courier is a Foldable Tablet

Microsoft’s Courier is a Foldable Tablet

Looks like Microsoft is in its later stage of development of a foldable tablet PC called Courier. Gizmodo has the scoop on a set of photos and demo video.
It’s still hush-hush so there’s not a lot of details on this product. Some even hinted this could be vaporware. See demo video below.
In any case, this looks really cool.

Snow Leopard on a Macbook Pro

So Apple sent in a 13″ Macbook Pro with the new Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) pre-installed so I can check out how the new OS upgrade performs.
I was actually hoping I’d get the unit with just Leopard (10.5) in it and have Snow Leopard on a disk that I can personally install. That way, I’d be able to test out Leopard first before upgrading to Snow Leopard and see the difference (or feel any improvements).
Some say Snow Leopard is more like a service pack than a total OS update. This could be due to the fact that there’s not much cosmetic differences between 10.5 and 10.6.
Earlier reviews by the big boys like David Pogue (NYT) got a lot of flak from the likes of John C. Dvorack and Leo Laporte (that got my curiosity/interest with Snow Leopard) but that’s another story about disclosures and conflicts of interests among journalists/bloggers .
Anyway, I’m hoping I could get something up after trying this rig. I’m sure those of you who own a Mac have already made the update so I’ll just focus on the stuff that us non-Mac users might appreciate.

Five by fiveNokia E55 review

Sometimes, a phone is nearly perfect, except for that one small thing you want to change. If you felt that way about Nokia E52, the E55 claims to have the answer. Don't get us wrong - the E52 has killer looks and specs. And the E55… well, like we told you, it's the same phone save for that one little thing.
Nokia E55 official photos
If QWERTY keyboards are for heavy texters where does half-QWERTY fit? Some would say it's the same target but different goal. You know, like heavy texting is a bad habit and half-QWERTY is the therapy. Now, now, no need to be too smart. But does it really make typing faster or slower, and how hard it is to learn the new layout? We ran a test to find out.
But more on that later. Thanks to the excellent connectivity options and Office editing out of the box, the E55 keeps your office at arm's length - whether you're out to lunch or out of town. Emails, presentations, spreadsheets, memos - you can bring all that everywhere you go. But hey, we're not saying you should. Thanks to Modes, switching between Business and Personal homescreens makes sure you don't have to bring work home.
Texting and email go without saying, but the Nokia E55 is one of the best-equipped Symbian devices around

Review: HP PhotoSmart Premium Fax series C309 [part 2]

Review: HP PhotoSmart Premium Fax series C309 [part 2]
article copied from yugatech

You might have read my previous post describing the first features of the HP PhotoSmart Premium Fax series C309 that I was sent to review by Hill and Knowlton on behalf of HP Canada (see the disclosure at the end of the post). I won’t repeat these features, but I mentioned I would test the other features of this printer so as to provide a thorough review.
The feature I was looking forward to testing the most was the scan-to-PDF, since that’s one of the features we geeks would need the most. Imagine this scenario – someone sends you a piece of paper to sign (a document in PDF format). So you have to print it, scan it to PDF, sign it and then send it back. I recently had to do this with a licensing agreement for one of the book chapters I’m publishing this year. I couldn’t do it because the scan-to-PDF feature would not allow me to do so.
In my opinion, this is not a fault of the printer, but an unfortunate feature of ever-evolving software. Since I’m running Windows Vista (an operating system that I find incredibly cumbersome), it’s hard to set up the scanners (despite the fact that apparently, the scanner is already set up). I grew increasingly frustrated and searched on Google for solutions, to no avail. I am not alone in this, I have tracked my own website’s stats and searches for “how to get help to make the HP PhotoSmart C309 work for scan to PDF” are relatively frequent. I think this is something that must be easily fixed and that should be in the help (I read the manual but didn’t find an easy explanation as to why this happens.
My laptop has frozen a few times waiting for the printout to come out, and there have been a couple of times when printing will not happen unless I re-start the printer (and sometimes, my laptop). I think that this is just a little glitch with the wireless setup. Overall, it’s a printer that will do what you need it to do (copy, print in color, black and white, double-sided printing, etc.) – the only feature I haven’t gotten to work is the scan-to-PDF. I’ll have to continue testing and update this post. It’s definitely an interesting and valuable printer, worth checking out.
I’d be interested in reading what other users have said. I’ve seen traffic come to my posts from searches on Google and Bing for this printer. Drop a note in the comments section if you’ve used it.
